Fall 2012: Game 4 V Cinnaminson SC "Magic"
What a great day for soccer. First of all, thanks go out to Mr. Mark Pettine for taking the teams stats this week. The game was a very well matched one between our girls and the Cinnaminson “Magic”. The Bluestorm came out very strong and dominated the game for the first 10 minutes. After this we saw a shift in the pace of the game and the ball found its way into our 18 on multiple occasions. Jill, Quinn and Anna all did a great job pushing to ball out to the offense and shifting the pressure quickly back to the Magic’s defense. The first half saw a goal scored by Mackenzie and one score by the Magic. After the Magic scored, coach Rob and Doug shifted some of the girls positions and they were able to hold the score at 1-1 going into the half. For the second half we started it much like the first, we came out strong and were able to keep up the pace of the game up for the duration. We saw 5 headers today ; one was a really great one by Julia that put the ball back into the Magic’s 18. Mackenzie saw her second goal of the game and season, with a wild ball that bounced off multiple Magic players before eventually bouncing up into the back corner of the net. Our girls continue to have a high shot count with 12 shots on goal. This is twice the number they were averaging last season. The girls really seem to be gelling and working well together. There spontaneous cheering celebration for their opponent after the game was a great example of this. We have one more game next week with a new opponent, the Voorhees “Thunder”. After this game we will start playing the same teams over again and will be looking forward to our re-matches. Let’s keep up the great playing and polish out some of the remaining rough spots this week. Things like positioning and passing will most likely be the focus.
