IS YOUR FAMILY CONSIDERING THE TRAVEL PROGRAM?
HERE ARE ANSWERS TO SOME OF THE WHO?, WHAT?, WHERE?, WHY?, WHEN?, AND HOW?
WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO PLAY?
MOSC fields teams from under-8 (U8) to under-14 (U14) for boys and girls. For the current season, players born on or before 8/1/2000 and on or after 8/1/93 are eligible. For example, a player born on 11/1/95 would be eligible for an under-12 (U12) team. In the Spring, MOSC expands to include high school players (U15-U19).
WHAT IS TRAVEL SOCCER?
Simply, travel soccer is the next step from our instructional soccer program. Instead of playing children from within our town, we play against children from neighboring towns. Our Travel Soccer program has been developed to promote soccer play on a competitive level. The travel season runs from September through June of the following year, with a break over the winter months (December-March). The season consists of league play in the Fall (September through November) and Spring (April through June). Each session of League play consists of 10 games (5 home and 5 away). The travel program requires a commitment for both the Fall and Spring seasons. Teams may elect to play in additional competitions that may take place during the season or off-season months.
WHERE ARE TRAVEL GAMES PLAYED?
Mount
Olive Soccer Club teams play in the Morris County Youth Soccer Association. In general, games are played on Sundays between 1pm and 5pm. Home games are played at Turkey Brook Park. Away games are played in other towns in
Morris
County and the surrounding area. Most away games are within 30-40 minutes of
Mount
Olive , with some being right around the corner, and others a little bit further away.
WHY SHOULD I CONSIDER HAVING MY CHILD TRY OUT FOR THE TRAVEL PROGRAM?
Because your child loves the game of soccer. Some of the many advantages to join MOSC’s travel program: top notch coaching, professional training and the opportunity for your child to play at a more competitive level. Our travel program consists of the development of both individual and team skills while emphasizing character, athletic skills, and good sportsmanship.
WHEN ARE TRAVEL PRACTICES HELD?
Travel teams generally practice twice per week for starting in August for the Fall session and March for the Spring session. Practices are 1-2 hours long. Additional indoor training during the winter months may also be provided. Travel teams receive professional training as a team at least once per week. The days and times are generally decided between the coach and parents of each individual team.
