Magic Power collects 2nd place trophies after making it to the
championship game at the Parsippany Pride Tournament
The young team from Mt Olive in their 3rd full year as a travel team had a very successful season, with tournament wins in the Mt Olive Halloween Classic as champions, a finalist in the Parsippany Pride tournament with a 2nd place finish, and Flight Champions in Morris County Flight 2 with a 8-1-1 record with an impressive 15 goals for 4 against. This was the girls first season on the “big” field playing 11v11 and seemed to have transitioned quite well.
The team is led by goal keepers/defense Lauren Johnson and Sarah Fasino, with superb defenders, Morgan Schiksnis, Dana Klein and on an occasion by an all-around position player Isabella Roque. The middle of the field is dominated by the stopper position, Tina Portesy and ball distributor, Emily Crowley at center mid-field. The busy midfield positions are led by, Patsy Kelly, Charlotte Hauser and Molly Stewart. The offensive positions are powered by Dina Naphor, Nicolette Thorkildson, Rachael Hanson, Sarah Wells and Sydney Summerville.
Currently, the Magic Power practice twice a week Wednesday and Friday nights, coached by Matt Crowley and Mike Schiksnis and use the professional trainings services of Auke Wiersma from Holland-USA. The Magic Power team is looking forward to playing in Flight 1 in the Spring and playing a number of tournaments.
